CAUSE AND EFFECT KARMA - lecture
by The Venerable Tulku Karma Rinpoche
The Venerable Tulku Karma Rinpoche
led a workshop on the subject of "Cause and Effect Karma" based
on the timeless text "The Words Of My Perfect Teacher".
Buddhism does not think of Karma
as "destiny" or as some kind of cosmic retribution system. Just as action
causes reaction, Karma causes effects that come back to the original actor.
We bear the consequences of the Karma we create, but everyone around us
is affected by our intentional acts as well, just as we are affected by
theirs. Although the fruits of "good" karma might be pleasant and beneficial,
all karma keeps one entangled in the cycle of death and rebirth. Actions
free from desire, hate and delusion do not create karma. The enlightened
being ceases to create karma and thus is liberated from the cycles of rebirth.
Audiences are drawn to Tulku Karma's
public appearances and teachings for his transformational and enlightening
effect on most anyone who comes within his presence. He brings a very positive
and hopeful spiritual message for these turbulent times. Rinpoche makes
this subject accessible through a wealth of stories, quotations, and references
to everyday life, giving the text all the life and atmosphere of a compelling
oral teaching. For more details visit the YTDR
Foundation or call (949) 278-6666
